Our membership consists of interested pet owners, breeders, exhibitors and trainers who all share a common bond . . . . our love of the Golden Retriever.
The Golden Retriever Club of Greater St. Louis was originally established in 1975 and is a not-for-profit organization with the following objectives:
To encourage our members that choose to breed, to produce Golden Retrievers that possess the soundness, temperament, natural ability and personality that is reflected in the standard of the breed, and to do all that is possible to advance and promote the perfection of these qualities.
To urge members to accept the Breed Standard as approved by the American Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which the Golden Retriever shall be judged.
To do all in our power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by encouraging sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, field events, obedience trials, agility trials and tracking tests.
And, to conduct sanctioned matches, specialty shows, field events, obedience trials, agility trials and tracking tests under the rules of the American Kennel Club.
Monthly club meetings have always played a vital role in our active club. Held on the third Wednesday of every month except July, August, & December, we try to feature events on grooming, conformation, obedience, field, agility and tracking when possible and share our personal experiences with our beloved goldens.
